Day 11- Journey's End
...and we're home.
6/4/10 64 °F
445 miles today, total of 4102.9 miles, 8 states, 11 days. What a trip!
no pictures today as we were expecting to be in heavy rain all day so the camera was packed away.
This was the local radar at Ontario, OR prior to the ride home this morning.
We were expecting wet, wet, wet all day. It was raining madly as we had breakfast around 6:30. We packed up, me with my trash bag/rain fly on my tail bag and Marv with his leaky stitch suit. We got very lucky and only had very light rain for about the first 60 miles, some heavy rain for about the next 30 miles until our first gas stop at La Grande where wondrously we saw a sliver of blue sky and sun. By the time we refueled and were on our way we enjoyed mostly clear and sunny skies up until Snoqualmie Pass. Even at the pass, again it was light rain even though we rode through the clouds which was strange in and of itself. Once we crested the pass, anticipation was high to get home and see loved ones.
While the ride was our longest leg of the trip, or as Marv would call it "a life sucking freeway ride", it was good to just get home as fast as we could on the final day of a great trip.
And here we are, safe and sound. No breakdowns, no injuries, no unexpected incidents or events, no tickets. Aside from two unexpected service stops, everything ran and played out splendidly.
Now to start planning the next one :-)
